Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents (Birth to 18 years) [Ref: H08A26]


The nine dietary guidelines are:

Aim for variety and balance.

Establish sensible eating habits and encourage physical activity.

Limit saturated fat and moderate total fat intake for children aged two years and older.

Encourage eating fruit and vegetables daily.

Encourage eating of wholegrain foods.

Encourage eating of calcium-rich foods daily.

Choose foods low in salt.

Limit the intake of beverages and foods with added sugars.

Encourage and support exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life.
