Vegans Can Die Young Too


We came across this video (http://youtu.be/q7KeRwdIH04) of a lecture by Dr Michael Greger where he explains animatedly at length about the misconceptions about the vegan/vegetarian diet being 'better'. In fact, there are areas of the vegan diet that can increase our risks if we are not careful to eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. If you don't have time to watch the entire lecture, do take a look at the 30th and 50th minute marks for the most relevant pointers. Essentially, we should be mindful of getting enough B12 regularly (through fortified food and supplements) and also ensure we nourish our bodies with Omega-3 (through flaxseed and chia seed).
