About the authors

Anna Jacob is a nutritionist and dietitian with over 26 years ofexperience in Singapore. She is currently the Nutrition Science and Communications Manager of Abbott Nutrition International, a division of Abbott Laboratories (Singapore) Private Limited. Anna is also a Board Member of the SingaporeHeart Foundation and a Member of the Asia Research and Development Team of Abbott Nutrition Research and Development Centre, BiopolisSingapore.

Anna earned a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics andmaster’s degree in Food Service Management and Dietetics from the Women’s Christian CollegeMadrasIndia. She is also a full member of the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association (SNDA), the local professional organization in which she has held the posts of Editor and
President.

Prior to joining Abbott, she was a founding partner and Director of Food and Nutrition Specialists P L, a nutrition consultancy fi rm set up in Singapore since 1989. Through this period, she also served as the Associate Director, Scientifi c Programs for the International Life Sciences Institute Southeast Asia Region (ILSI SEAR).

Anna is a co-author of FirstFoods and SmartFoods for Tweens, published by Marshall Cavendish International (Asia) Pte Ltd.


Ng Hooi Lin, a nutritionist by training, Ng Hooi Lin provides nutrition consultancy services through the development of nutrition and health-focused workshops, as well as the facilitation of nutrition education programmes. Her aim is to make local nutrition information practical, accessible and personal, and she keeps a personal blog (http://nghooilin.blogspot.com) to support nutrition education among tech savvy Mandarin speakers. The Chinese language blog registers over 500 hits a day and has been positively reviewed by the Chinese newspapers in Singapore and Malaysia. Hooi Lin is a full member of the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetic Association (SNDA).

Hooi Lin has been actively involved in planning and implementing educational programmes in the area of heart health and nutrition for lower income residents. In addition, Hooi Lin also provides diet counselling to her clients.
