My Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Test Monitoring as at 2012-03-23

My Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Test Monitoring as at 2012-03-23
(Reference Range: < 4.00 ug/L or 4 nanograms of PSA per milliliter)

Date of Test Total PSA Results
18 April 2007 0.580
16 June 2011 0.417
23 March 2012 0.428

My PSA results on 23 March 2012 is still considered as very good because of my healthy diet.

The following is from

The prostate is a walnut-sized gland nestled beneath the bladder. Prostate cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer deaths, killing 1 out of every 35 men. Catching the cancer before it spreads can improve a patient's chances of being alive five years later from 30 percent to almost 100 percent. [Why Can't We Cure Cancer?]
That's where prostate screening comes in. Prostate cells produce a protein called prostate-specific antigen, or PSA. A blood test can catch elevated levels of PSA, which can be a sign of prostate cancer

Most doctors consider more than 4 nanograms of PSA per milliliter of blood to be a red flag.

Healthy skin: My 59-year-old younger sister says my skin is very good (healthy)!

Some time in late April 2012, while having lunch at TTS food court, my sister Hg told me, "Your skin is very good."

This was one of the rare compliments from my 59-year-old younger sister.

I was so happy to hear that.

I fact comparing with my male close friends, my skin is quite good.

My healthy mainly plant-based diet in the last 5 to 7 years has been serving me well!

So keep it up!

My 2010-12-05 Metabolic Age measurement results by Tanita BC-532 Body Composition Monitor

At 1125 am on 2010-12-05 (Sunday) my Metabolic Age according to Tanita BC-532 Body Composition Monitor was 25.

My actual age is 60.

If the measurement results is reliable and a good indicator of the actual age of my body, it must be due to My mainly plant-based diet with High Fibre, Low Protein, Low Fat, Low Salt and Low Sugar intake.

My current metabolic age is 25 years younger than my chronological age probably due to Calorie Restriction (CR / CRON)

On 2009-0-9-2, at about noontime, I met a health consultant from Herbalife (http://www.herbalife.com/) near my home.

She used a Tanita brand Body Composition Monitor (Model BC-541??) to measure my body.

The result: My metabolic age is 34!

Therefore, my metabolic age is 25 years younger than my chronological age!

This achievement is mainly/probably due to my lifestyle of Calorie Restriction (CR/CRON) with healthy mainly plant-based food although I hardly exercise.

My Good Health Report and Much younger Biological age from measurement by Lifestream on 2009-07-11

On 11 July 2009 (Saturday) at about 5.15 pm, I had my health test at Lifestream booth of "Health & U" Mega Health Exhibition @ Suntec Convention Hall, jointly organized by The Straits Times Mind Your Body and Lianhe Zaobao LOHAS (11 & 12 July 2009).

I was asked to stand on something that looked like an electronic weighing scale using Reactance Technology.

The following was My Health Report Card:

(a) Age: 58+

(b) Weight: 56.2 kg.

Note: Bare feet with clothes, wallet, and other personal belongings. So the actual weight should be about 55.5 kg.

(c) Body fat percentage = 18.8 % (According the report card , Normal is 10% to 20%)

(d ) Organ fat index = 9.5 (According the report card , Normal is less than 9.5)

(e) Basal metabolic rate (BMR) = 1225 kcal/day

Note: According the report card, my BMR ( for age 50 – 69) should be 1350 kcal/ day.

(f) Real biological age = 35 years old.

The lady boss of
Lifestream told me that my health report was good. She asked me to visit her booth again at the coming World Food Fair 2009 (18th - 21st, September 2009, Suntec)for another test.

But the above results were slightly not as good as those obtained on 7 September 2008 at the booth run by Lifestream World Food Fair 2008 at Suntec.

Maybe the scale used this time was different form that used on 7 September 2008. I hope so!

My Good Blood Sugar Level Test result of 5.7 mmol/L on 11 July 2009 at "Health & U" Mega Health Exhibition

On 11 July 2009 (Saturday) at about 5.30 pm, I had my blood sugar test using small Abbott brand test kit (called Optium Xceed™ Diabetes Management System) by a lady at the Unity Pharmacy (NTUC) booth at "Health & U" Mega Health Exhibition @ Suntec Convention Hall, jointly organized by The Straits Times Mind Your Body and Lianhe Zaobao LOHAS (11 & 12 July 2009).

The result was 5.7 mmol/L.

The ideal non-diabetic levels are 4.0 to 6.0 mmol/L for pre-meal glucose and 5.0 to 7.0 mmol/L for 2-hour post meal glucose.

[Note: The above information is from Ministry of Health Clinical Practice Guideline 06/2006, according to a samll brochure given by Aboott Laboratories (S) Pte Ltd during the exhibition]

I took about 350 ml of orange-banana smoothie at about 3.30 pm of 11 July 2009.

Therefore my blood sugar test result of 5.7 mmol/L was good and ideal.

This proves that my healthy Calorie Restriction lifestyle is the right choice.

How to reduce high blood pressure? (A real life example of myself) without medicine. No drugs. No exercise. Through Calorie Restriction (CRON)

A few years ago, I used to have a High blood pressure of 140/90 and above.

I believe a combination of the following have helped me to have optimal blood pressure of a normal blood pressure lower than 120/80 most of the time.

(a) Practise calorie restriction with optimal nutrition (CRON). Take CR as a way of life.

(b) A mainly high fiber, low fat, low salt, low sugar, low protein near vegetarian diet.

(c) Everyday, at least 1 apple and 1 orange daily and 100g grapes, 100g bananas and sometimes raw carrot, raw tomato. I take fruits mainly in the form of smoothie.

(d) For convenience, I seldom take other vegetables.

(e) Almost no processed food except coffee and bread.

(f) At least one meal of fat-free, salt-free, sugar-free multigrain porridge daily.

(g) Occasionally I eat a little fish, meat and egg.

(h) Everyday, take Multi-vitamin, vitamin C 100mg, Calcium, etc.

(i) Take about 1.5 liters of water daily.

(j) I do not smoke or take alcohol.

(k) Up to 2009-06-06, I hardly exercise, although I know physical exercise is good for me!

(l) Maintain a healthy weight of BMI of slightly more than 20 but lsee than 21 most of the time.

I hope my experience is useful to you as a reference and look forward to hearing form you if you have any comment and feedback. Thank you.

Carbon monoxide concentration was 0 ppm for my breath analysis on 4 April 2009

On 4th April 2009 (Saturday), at about 6.00 pm, I did a breath analysis using a hand held breath analyser at the Health Promotion Board booth at Lian He Wan Bao Beauty & Healthcare Fair 2009 at Suntec.

As a non-smoker, My carbon monoxide concentration obtained was 0 ppm.

The lady staff member there said this result was very good.

People with breath carbon monoxide concentrations greater than 6 ppm should be assessed for the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

For more information on breath analysis to detect recent exposure to carbon monoxide, please visit http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11930027

How I healed myself of stuffed nose and excessive mucous (chronic sinusitis)

I had stuffed nose and excessive mucous (chronic sinusitis) since my childhood until 2 to 3 years ago.

I healed myself of this irritating health problem without the help of a medical doctor (i.e. physician) after going CRON for about one year and eat mainly low fat, low salt, low sugar, low protein and high-dietary-fibre plant-based food. I also drink about 1.5 litres of water and take health supplements daily. I keep my BMI (Body Mass Index) below 23.

Now I seldom have stuffed nose or excessive mucous or other nose problems.

This experience of mine may be useful to you.

My Healthy Waist Size and Healthy Waist-Hip Ratio Measurement on 2008-11-07, 2145 hour

On 2008-11-07 2145 hr

My Waist measurement = 33 inches
MY Hip measurement = 37 inches

My Waist-hip Ratio = 0.89189 = 0.892 (to 3 significant figures)

My Waist-hip Ratio is within the healthy range.

=======================================================

The following figures are Not for pregnant women.

* A WH ratio more than 0.95 for men & more than 0.85 in Women denotes risk for development of diabetes.

A healthy waist hip ratio is 0.8 or less for women and 1 or less for men.

A waist hip ratio of less than 0.8 for women and less than 1 for men indicates a pear-shaped body.

A person with this body shape carries more fats around the hips. This shape is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and stroke.

A waist hip ratio of more than 0.8 for women or more than 1 for men indicates an apple-shaped body. A person with this body shape carries more fats around the waist. This shape is associated with a higher risk of heart disease, diabetes and other related health conditions.

=======================================================

In men, a waist circumference greater than 40 in. is considered a health risk.

Women who have a waist size larger than 35 in. are considered at risk.

In Asian people, health problems are seen with a smaller waist size.

In Asian women, a waist size of 32 in. (80 cm) or more raises the chance for disease.

In Asian men, a waist size of 36 in. (90 cm) or more raises the chance for disease.

My Dental Treatment on 2008-09-15

In the morning of 2008-09-15, Monday, I went to BDK Dental Clinic for simple scaling and polishing. The young female doctor did not do checking on my teeth.

I showed her the sketches by the specialist at NDC in May 2008 regarding the proposed operation on (a) a ceramic-browned tooth with chronic infection, (b) the possible internal decay within a gold crowned tooth done many years ago.

I told her I do not plan to have the two teeth operated because I do not have problem with the tooth with chronic infection, and I do not wish to let the specialist remove the gold crown of the second tooth, which never gives me any problem. She said, if nothing done, the gold crowned tooth will get worse. Well, I still two more months to make a decision.

I know that my teeth and gum conditions are much better than before my CRON and near vegetarian lifestyle. ---- My Health Achievement!

But I should get another dentist to assess and ascertain my dental conditions soon.

My, Latte’s & GG’s Bone density tests on 6 Sept 08

In the evening (at about 7.30 pm) of 2008-09-06 (Saturday) I visited World Food Fair 2008 at Suntec with Latte and GG.

I had a bone density test at Biocalth booth. Results = T-score = -1.0 and Stiffness = 92 in the yellow zone meaning Low Bone Mass requiring me to take Biocalth 2 tablets 2 times daily.

At about 6.00 pm of 24 May 2008 (Saturday), I had a bone density test at All Link Medical & Health Products Pte Ltd booth at the Singapore Food Expo 2008. Results: T-score = -1.9

Therefore, My T-score has improved from –1.9 to –1.0 since 24 may 2008.

So I should take two tablets of my 600-mg calcium with Vitamin D instead of one from now on and control my coffee intake. And have the same test next year.

Latte’s result is better than mine. T-score = 0.7 and stiffness = 98.

GG’s result is also better than mine. T-score = 0.9 and stiffness = 100.

According to a lady at the booth, GG’s result should have been better than T-score = 0.7 because of her young age.

My Real biological age is almost half of my chronological age ??

In the evening (at about 7.30 pm) of 2008-09-06 (Saturday) I visited World Food Fair 2008 at Suntec with Latte.

I had a health test at Lifestream booth.

I was asked to stand on something that looked like an electronic weighing scale I have at home.

The following was My Health Report Card:

(a) Age: (Confidential for this blog for privacy. But my age is almost 60.)

(b) Weight: 57.5 kg.

Note: Bare feet with clothes, wallet, and other personal belongings. So the actual weight should be about 56.0 kg.

(c) Body fat percentage = 16.5 % (Normal)

(d ) Organ fat index = 9.0 (Normal)

(e) Basal metabolic rate (BMR) = 1288 kcal/day

Note: According the report card, my BMR ( for age 50 – 69) should be 1350 kcal/ day.

(f) Real biological age = 33 years old.

What a surprise! I cannot believe that my real biological age is almost half my chronological age (i.e. real age).

If this is true, I must congratulate myself for this health achievement by sticking to my near-vegetarian High Fiber + Low Sugar + Low +Low Salt +Low protein + Low fat diet and Calorie Restriction with Optimal Nutrition (CRON) practice in the last few years although I hardly exercise.

A word of caution, my weight has been increasing from my lowest weight of 53.3 kg in the morning of 18 July 2008. Something must be done.

My and Latte’s First (Live Blood Cell Analysis) microscopic blood analysis

Last Saturday (2008-07-05), I and latte had our first microscopic blood analyses at Health & You Exhibition 2008 at Suntec.

  • residing freely in their own space
  • not overlapping or sticking together
  • but gently repelling each other because of their negative charge
  • uniform in size, shape, and colour

Furthermore, the health professional manning microscope showed us the following in Latte’s blood on the computer monitor:

(a) fat (I the shape of an irregular stripe)

(b) a blood clot. (She copied and pasted this clot at the bottom of the monitor)

She (the health professional) also said that my blood looks fresh and better. Latte’s blood is dark and contains toxins and high cholesterol and the red blood cells less lively.

The results of the above tests for me and Latte are no surprising.

Reasons are:

(1) In the last two to three years, I have been a near-vegetarian and a Calorie Restriction with Optimal Nutrition (CRON) practitioner and my diet has been healthy most of the time. My BMI has been around 19.814 in the last one year.

(2) Latte is overweight. Her BMI now is 26.171. Her diet is very unhealthy. She has been eating junk foods despite my many reminders to her to eat healthy. She just does not care. What can I do?

Upon the advice of the health professional, Latte spent $140.00 to buy some ready-to-take Chinese herbs to “solve” her problems. I will write on the herbs later.
