Hic’Juice is founded by a group of food-junkies-turned-juice-enthusiasts, with the help of a lovely certified nutritionist, to bring the healthy wave of cold pressed organic juices from California to you and me in Singapore.
Many of you would probably be wondering what “raw, organic and cold pressed juices” mean and how is it different from the juices that you can buy from the juicebar, supermarkets or if you squeeze it yourself at home. It is indeed quite a world of difference!
The juices you can normally get on retail are either pasteurized, artificially sweetened or have to be consumed within an hour. There are also very little green juices out there, with the majority being fruit juices with high sugar content. There is a whole wealth of reasons why you should be choosing hic’Juice over them, and convenience is just one of them. We now deliver island-wide, and our juices are freshly pressed the day they are delivered, giving you a full 3 days of shelf life for all its natural goodness contained.
We live and promote a balanced, healthful, and sustainable lifestyle. Feeding your body with whole foods and natural produce is the best long-term strategy for maintaining good health.

Steve Jobs and The fruit smoothie diet after his liver transplant
The following is from http://shelf-life.ew.com/2011/10/24/steve-jobs-food-weirdnesses-fasts-apple-and-carrot-diets-fruit-smoothie-diets/
Steve Jobs and The fruit smoothie diet after his liver transplant.
After his (Steve Jobs') liver transplant,”He would eat only fruit smoothies, and he would demand that seven or eight of them be lined up so he could find an option that might satisfy him. He would touch the spoon to his mouth for a tiny taste and pronounce, ‘That’s no good. That one’s no good either.’” His doctor finally told him, “Stop thinking of this as food. Start thinking of it as medicine.”

Freezing your fruit is a great way to make it last longer. But how?
I use frozen bananas to make smoothie because bananas cannot be kept too long.

My comments on the report "Smoothies and fruit juices are a new risk to health, US scientists warn" in The Guardian (online, in Internet) dated 7 September 2013.
I just read the report "Smoothies and fruit juices are a new risk to health, US scientists warn" in http://flip.it/3fyUC ( or http://www.theguardian.com/society/2013/sep/07/smoothies-fruit-juices-new-health-risk )
The article heading is misleading.
The smoothies mentioned in the article are commercial smoothies or simply commercial juices. The sugar contents are mostly too high. You should only take them occasionally or simply don't take them.
Homemade fruit smoothies are pure fruits and water. With green vegetables (preferably organic) added, they become green smoothies.
Green smoothies are preferred choices because green vegetables are very nutritious and healthy. If you are new to green smoothie, the weight ratio of green veg to fruits should be 1 to 4 so that the taste is better. As time goes on, gradually increase the percentage of green veg to 50% or more.
My green smoothie contains about 40% to 50% green veg and carrots and sometimes tomatoes. The fruits are mainly apples, oranges and bananas. The ideal recipe is to have more variety of fruits and vegetables.
Based on my personal experience in the last 5 years, taking green smoothie daily and a meal of my-own-formula (150 grams) multi whole grains cereal (or called porridge) with added nuts, beans and seeds daily is very good for health. Now, Better health. Better skin. Better hair. No more bleeding gums. No more mouth ulcers. Better teeth. No more blocked nose. No more runny nose. No more gouts. No more constipation. Passing motion daily, BMI in healthy range, etc. Other than basic health screening, I have not seen a doctor in the last few years. I only take Panados sometimes, if I do not feel well mainly due to insufficient sleep.
If you worry about the sugar contents in homemade smoothie, have a basic healthy screening yearly in which you can check your general health.
So take only homemade pure smoothie for good health. Avoid consuming commercial smoothies or juices.
PS. I seldom take canned food other than canned sardines and mackerels after rinsing off the tomato sauce. In each week, I take one or two eggs, 300 to 400 grams of sardines and mackerel, about 100 to 200 grams lean pork or chicken breast.
